Guadalupe is a town located in Maricopa County, Arizona. It has a population of 6,072 residents and rests on 0.8 square miles of land.
Guadalupe has been known since its founding as a center of Yaqui culture and it has many religious based festivals. The town’s motto is “where three cultures flourish”, is referring to the towns roots of Yaquis, Mexicans, and descendants of the original farmers. Guadalupe was founded in 1900 by Yaqui Indians, who had left their homeland in Sonora to get away from oppression by the Mexican Government. The town welcomes visitors to watch their ceremonies but do not allow photography.
